5 ways you can show commitment to living in New Zealand (to move from a Residents Visa to a Permanent Residents Visa:
You have established a base in NZ. Criteria is for you to being a resident for at least 41 days in the year before applying for PR and everyone else in your residence application been living in NZ for at least 2 years before you applied for PR. You also must either have worked full-time in New Zealand for 9 months or more in the 2 years before you applied for permanent residence, and/ or purchased a home within 12 months of your first day in New Zealand as a resident. When you apply for permanent residence the home must still be owned by you, or together with family in your resident visa application.
Spend at least 184 days in New Zealand on a resident visa in each of the 2 years immediately before you apply for permanent residence.
Be a resident for 41 days or more in each of the two 12-month portions of the 2 years as Tax resident
You have at least a 25% share of a business, trading successfully and a benefit to NZ. Evidence includes the latest business accounts and a letter confirming your business is a going concern from a NZ chartered accountants such as VKR Global.
NZ$1,000,000 invested in New Zealand in an acceptable investment for 2 years or more
Investments must be in bonds, equities, property or other investments and:
Able to make commercial returns
Invested in NZ
Invested in NZD
Legal enterprises or managed funds
Not for personal use e.g. home, boat, car
Property can be:
Residential property development
Commercial property.
Other investments can be:
Philanthropic investment
Angel funds or networks’ investments.
